I Am Enough

I exist as I am that is enough

I am enough; right here, right now; as I am – and as I always will be. There were so many times in my life that I questioned my value and my worth. I compared myself to other people, compared my life experiences to the experiences of others and determined how great I was based on what I saw others doing. If I wasn’t having fabulous experiences or doing fabulous things, then I wasn’t fabulous. Knowing what I know now and having the newfound perspective that I do, I can see that I was way off the mark in how I was living my life.

I was completely misguided, wandering around aimlessly and looking for anything and everything that would fill the voids that existed. I looked for fulfillment in other people, in circumstances and events, in food, in social interactions and no matter what I did, I still felt lost and unfocused.

The repetitious cycle of looking at others and to others for something that was not an outside job led me to circle and circle until I found myself starting all over again, constantly. Fulfillment of one’s “self” is an “inside job” – and it is only when we look “within” that we will stop living without.

How did I change my life?

I started making lists of what I liked about myself, what I was proud of myself for doing, what I felt I had accomplished, what I could do better than anyone else – and I started to like me. Now, if I look at others and how they are living their lives, it is only to observe their life circumstances as they may appeal to me, to decide if I want a similar experience for myself. Then, carefully crafted in my mind, I choose that experience with positive feelings of joy and happiness, with careful consideration of my potential to feel envy or other negative emotions about my own life. If we focus on NOT feeling certain emotions, we are still thinking of those emotions and thus, we are focusing on them – even if we are of the mindset that we are NOT thinking of them. To ensure that we do not think of them, we need only to place our mental focus and emphasis on positive emotions, positive feelings, and physical reactions in our bodies will let us know if we are in fact thinking “good feeling” thoughts or if our thoughts require more direction.

I am enough; right here, right now; as I am – and as I always will be. I shall not compare myself to others because there is NO OTHER that is anything close to being exactly like me. I am unique. I am an individual. I am one of a kind. I am perfection and I am enough – and it is in this sense that we are all the same because we are ALL perfect, just as we are. Together we create balance and harmony. If we were all the same, everything would fall to one side and neither balance nor harmony would exist. Celebrate your individuality, celebrate your uniqueness, celebrate your perfection and start living THE ULTIMATE LIFE!
